This seems to have come from a dispute between 2 internet marketers, Scott Boulch and Mike Filsaime (see this ‘report’).
While Mike is selling his product - the Viral Friend Generator - for $97, Scott is giving his away free! (In exchange for you joining his list, of course!)
If you are looking for a viral friend script then this is worth checking out: www.viralscript.com.
However, these scripts are very vulnerable to spam (how can they know you are actually friends with the person you tell?*). Many autoresponders don’t like you using them, read what Tom Kulzer from Aweber says about it in this article.
So, it may be of use in some circumstances, but if you are in the “selling to the seller” game of internet marketing then the risk of being branded a spammer may outweigh the rewards of building your list.
*Just give it time… the next generation will search Myspace, Forums anything it can to verify you are friends… Actually, that was a joke, but…
If Facebook (for example) can ask for email logins then give you a list of contacts to invite what it stopping that sort of system being used for list building? (Expect to see something like that around by the end of the year!)
(Note: The affiliate link for Viral Friend Dominator does not pay me commission, just a discount from other products which I really doubt I’ll buy. I’ve left it in out of curiosity to see if anyone reading this actually downloads the free script.)
Do you think this is a good deal or a rip-off? Please leave a comment to let me know. Thanks, Si.
